Since the beginning of 2020, BIS Bremerhaven has had a Regional Management team for hydrogen technologies in its Business Development division.
The overarching task of the Regional Management is to establish hydrogen and fuel cell technology in Bremerhaven. The activities focus on the initiation, coordination and facilitation of research and development projects. For the future use of hydrogen, the technologies and fields of application are identified, evaluated, monitored and communicated to companies. Existing structures and competences are further developed, made visible, strengthened and networked.
The aim is to develop Bremerhaven into a test region and centre of competence for hydrogen applications and thus to develop national appeal, which will have a positive effect on the settlement of companies and thus on the creation and preservation of jobs.
The topic of hydrogen technologies as an innovative green technology making a decisive contribution to the success of the energy turnaround is closely linked to the activities of BIS on the Green Economy and innovation policy. The establishment of this technology supports the transformation of companies to sustainable business and will encourage start-ups in the Green Economy to establish themselves here.
The Regional Management works closely with the senatorial authorities in Bremen and conveys Bremerhaven’s goals and activities to the committees for the development of a Bremen-based hydrogen strategy as well as the hydrogen strategy for the metropolitan region.
Another field of activity is to inform the public about Bremerhaven’s activities, for example through the Hydrogen Week North, participation in local events such as Energy and Climate City Day and active participation in conferences.
The project “Regional Management of Hydrogen Technologies” runs until 31 August 2022.
